I'm going to be honest I don't like Mudkip that much
As a kid that only experienced a small bit of gen 3 thought the ORAS demo I initially disliked Swampers design and thought the mega looked better cause it "fixed him". Now Swamper has grown on me and i can definitely tell that the mega is a bit too much, but he pseudo combination of the 2 forms that mega Swamper ends up being through the haze of my memory still makes me like it

I hardly find appeal in the 3d games due to the Pokémon’s lifelessness.
