1. I will never forgive Gamefreak for making Lotad so cute, and then giving it a mouth under its beak

2. Ludicolo can eat my entire butt, that butthead killed my styler in Pokemon ranger SO many times with it's stupid little, "I'm so happy, I'm gonna dance and sing and it's going to break the thing you need to do your job!"
   I hate it.

7. I have a theory, maybe baseless, that there is a party theme at work in the evolution design. Hear me out.

   You start with Lotad. What does it look a bit like? A serving dish.

   Lombre, meanwhile, has colorations like he's wearing a little vest and has a mustache. Not dissimilar to a waiter?

   Ludicolo however, drops the servile aspect entirely and is constantly dancing and celebrating. Just like a party goer would. He's happy because he's not working.

8. What I love about Ludicolo is that such a goofy mon with pretty average stats has managed to be actually good. They've got so many accolades in competitive history.

9. I remember someone calling Ludicolo a sombrero-wearing pineapple duck nearly a decade ago and I can't think about him without that.

14. Maybe it was because i grew up with gen 3, but the line just made sense to me. Logically it shouldn't work, but it seems to anyway

16. The best thing is his typing the fact you get blaziken and solve your water and grass problem with Lotad makes the journey super easy.

19. For me Lombre's beak looks kind of like a mustache, which I think helps with the transition to Ludicolo somehow

20. I'm convinced that a lot of the Pokémon evolutions are designed in reverse; they start with this idea for a play on words or a theme with the final evolution and just try to find a way to step it down smaller and smaller while keeping it somehow connected.

21. I love Ludicolo! It’s a silly mariachi duck man who just wants to kickback and groove.

22. To be fair Lombre design is reminiscent of a mariachi outfit. What with its markings giving a vest like design. So that kinda helps the transition.

31. I feel like this is one of the few 3 stage evo lines that feels similar to how starters feel. with the whole "cute starter to awkward teenage middle stage, featuring some unexpected leaps in design between those stages"-ethos going on

35. Lotad coulda been a best boynlik quagsire, but ludicolo got the madness in his eyes

36. They're legitimately one of my favorite lines because, it's almost like the design inspirations slowly start working against each other, but seamlessly make a Pokémon line that is totally unique and fun. They're just happy little Mexican Kappa, and I love it.

40. Middle evolution is my favourite tbh. I wish they'd explored the Kappa bit of this evolution further. Or to have just made it a 2 stage Pokémon and Ludicolo could have been their own lil happy dude that is canonically a related species.

41. Ngl, had they held off on the sex scene, this would be exactly the kind of future I want for certain animated genres.
    Because I love psychological horror and gore and live action movies dont really do a good job of it. I feel like the animated form would have more free to move around in a way live action can't.

44. Ludicolo made me laugh every time I saw it vibing out in the woods in Shield.

45. I adore Ludicolo. I like to imagine having a dance party with my Ludicolo nicknamed Loca, my Meloetta nicknamed Melli, and my Baile Oricorio nicknamed Carmen. I haven't played Scarlet or Violet yet, but Ququaval would definitely be invited!🕺💃

46. I feel like the weirdest part of this whole line isn't even the baffling combination of inspirations, but the fact that Lotad for some godforsaken reason has six limbs, a fact that immediately disappears upon evolution and has no bearing on the overall line, but has always thrown me off
