  1. The large beak of Taillow is inspired by swallow chicks, who have mouths as big as their head, thus increasing Taillow's status as BabyTM

  2. I love Taillow and Swellow. Simple gommickless bird but just a really effective design thats simultaneously cute and badass

  3. Do you mind looking at the game arknights i really think you would enjoy the art and its creative ways they make their skins and how they still keep it lore accurate

  4. Taillow/Swellow are my favorite Regional Birb™ for their japanese names. Taillow's translates quite literally as 'Swallow,' and Swellow's is 'Great King Swallow,' so he's Swell-ow.

  5. Swellow's actually probably got the most Japanese vibes out of all the early-gen regional birds with its samurai technique reference, it's a bit of a wonder it seems more Japanese than noctowl what with Johto's being seen as the region that most strongly reflects traditional Japanese culture, but I guess noctowl and hoothoot are more about showing off gen 2's new day/night mechanics. It usually flies under the radar for me, but I guess swellow's not a bad design.

  6. Hoenn is my favorite region, and Taillow is subsequently one of my favorite regional birds. Hearing you give it a little praise makes me unbelievably happy

  7. I love Swellow/Tailow from a game mechanics perspective especially! They are an amazing example of how to keep an early game Pokemon with middling stats at best, relatively strong throughout an entire playthrough if the player absolutely loves their Swellow too much to "upgrade" it to a stronger mon. I absolutely DESPISE the idea of certain mons ONLY being useful early game cause that plainly sucks and is mechanically backwards. Why even make mons like that to be thrown away after you become lovingly attached to them since they fought so hard in those first 2-3 gyms for you.

Swellow cleverly beats the stat race by having at least ONE, really nice stat block, being Speed. It actually outspeeds Alakazam!! This mixed with two very nice abilities to choose from in either Guts (for raw destructive power AND ignoring burn stat drop) or Scrappy (to hit ghost with boomburst, what would be the move's only real counter otherwise).

Which with Guts you get the insane STAB Facade (pronounced Fu-cho-day or Fu-kade when we were kids, don't deny it lmao). Sure your ATK stat isn't insane, and your DEF/SP.DEF are meh at best. However, your STAB Facade while burned doesn't give two shits about that junk lol.

Scrappy seems much worse than Guts for Swellow, but it allows you to instead go Special with now unavoidable STAB Boomburst that will
    ignore ghosts immunity (cause Scrappy)
    Ignore substitute
    Ignore evasion
Ang honestly ignore your targets will to live lmao

  8. I love Swellow! It's had a special place in my heart since I was a kid. Its cry on the GBA games is really memorable.

  9. Oddly enough in gen 3 this was the staple of a cool Pokemon. Literally.

Swellow moveset is broken in the Pokemon contest's Cool category, being able to chain combos even in the higher ranks very easily.

So this is indeed a cool Pokemon.

  10. Will always have fond memories of bringing an innocent-seeming swellow to free-for-all battles with my friends, and then breaking out the guts facades to absolutely wreck shop.

  11. I remember visiting an old save file of either Diamond or Pearl that had Swellow as one of the party members
Maybe in the future, if they bring them back again, I’ll catch one
