Y’know, thinking about this, I feel like Ambipom’s somewhat uncanny nature might be why the devs of the fangame Pokémon Insurgence decided to use that initial uncanniness to their advantage by turning it up to eleven and making the delta varient of the Aipom line Normal/Ghost types. Doubling down on the uncannily long arms while giving them long, clawed fingers, on top of giving Ambipom blank, soulless eyes and that floating head really makes it look like something I wouldn’t want to run into in a dark alley while alone at night. Tbh it really makes me wish that the back sprite for Delta Ambi added onto what they did for Delta Aipom, with the idea of them staring down the actual player themselves. Maybe since Aipom can only really press up its face against the screen, after having gained more power after evolving, it could’ve had one of those creepy looking hands outstretched towards the screen while staring them down, as if trying to break out of the confines of the game to grab hold of them within the real world. But hey, that’s just my take on things.

9. I actually really like ambipom. It's face is weird yes, but I used in legends and I've grown to really like it since it helped out tons. Maybe it's nostalgia from the anime but I like it (plus it's shiny is good)

12. I'm sorry but ambipom is one of my top 10 favorite Pokémon, because I remember liking that they had two tails as a kid, and after learning how many people hate the design, out of spite I love them even more,

16. God I feel heard, aipom was always one of my favourites (I like creatures with weird appendages don't @ me, Lugia is a less weird example with the wings) and I vehemently hated ambipom. I'm more mellow on it now but I feel it never really landed for me, one of the worst gen 4 evolutions imo

I went back to check the 2d gen 4 Ambipom sprite to see if it was maybe the shift to 3d that truly ruined it but no, those balls with udders on them are as scary as ever. it's still a lot more passable tho with an interesting pose going on – I will never get over how the transition to 3d killed interesting pokemon sprites

28. i dont know why i like ambipom, i think it's just strange enough to be funny to me. maybe aipom just left enough of a good impression that its evolution gets a pass because of it.

30. I used to not really care about Aipom but then I read the pokemon adventure/special manga and seeing Gold's Aibo act as a 3rd arm for Gold's shenanigans made me love him.

35. I actually love aipom and always want to get him in my nuzlockes and egglockes with my friend because 1. i love how adorable he looks, and 2. He has the pickup ability. (I never get him though😢)

40. I do enjoy Aipom and tried using one before but I haven't for a hot minute now. While Ambipom isn't my most favorite pokemon I do like it's cry. ^^

41. "Aipom was cute" HARD DISAGREE. Aipom was hideous from day one. Ambipom is still worse, though, that part is correct.
