Unfortunately, with today’s forced update, Mega Evolution/Primal Revesion no longer boost themself/their own team in battle. This change made a lot Solo Raid, specifically Tier 5, no longer accessible. Ironically, this project has been planned/executed right before the change happens, and marks the end of Tier 5 Solo Raiding continued for a few months.
Deoxys-Attack, as the Legendary Raid Boss with lowest defense stat, can be defeated as Solo Raid with various Pokemon. In fact, there is a report with it being defeated as Solo Raid by a team of Murkrow. With its low defense stat. a lot Pokemon, even those cannot hit it super effectively, can still defeat it easily.
This channel has started with Mega Recycling back in that time of Mega Evolution era. With their Mega Boost, they drastically outclassed other Pokemon, to a point that it is better to only use them even with the risk of desync and high rejoin cost by regen glitch. Their power had allowed a lot tough legendary raid bosses to be defeated rather comfortably as Duo Raid.
Nowadays, with Primal Boost and the overpowered Go Tour/Go Fest Legendary Pokemon, all raid bosses can be defeated rather easily as Duo Raid. With Party Power, those Pokemon received over 50% damage boost, which is way more powerful than Mega Boost. As such, Mega Evolution can no longer keep up with those Legendary Pokemon in raid battles.
We have always wanted to do something special for Mega Evolution for how much they have aide on our way of shortmanning every single raid bosses in this game. We had tried to featured them in different T3 raids, but it was difficult to showcase them all. Conveniently, with Deoxys-Attack low defense stat and Mega Evolution boosting themself in battle, 43 out of 44 released Mega Evolution/Primal Reversion can defeat Deoxys-Attack by themself.
This time, all released Mega Evolution, except Mega Medicham, will challenge Deoxys-Attack as a Solo Raids. With their diverse typing, they have different preference on Deoxys-Attack moveset. The Solo Raids are arranged such that they all can face a Deoxys-Attack with a more favorable moveset.
Overall, most of these Solo Raids are rather easy, where most of them can defeat Deoxys-Attack in first try. Here are the particular few that were somewhat challenging:
Mega Kangaskhan: With Stomp being the only STAB option, Mega Kangaskhan does not only missing STAB but also STAB Mega Boost. Without STAB moves, it is mostly the same as a non-Mega Pokemon. With a moderate attack stats, Mega Kangaskhan can only barely defeat Deoxys-Attack even with Fog weather boosting Crunch. It had to keep trying until Deoxys-Attack use Dark Pulse less frequently.
Mega Gallade: While Mega Gallade has access to STAB moves, they are all resisted by Deoxys-Attack. As a result, similar to Mega Kangaskhan, it has to fight without using STAB moves. Even worse than Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Gallade has no coverage move that hits Deoxys-Attack super effectively. Thankfully, with its high base stats, it can defeat Deoxys-Attack with Charm/Leaf Blade, without relying on weather boost.
Mega Altaria/Mega Mawile: While this Fairies pair has a full STAB moveset that hit Deoxys-Attack neutrally, they both have low stats. Coupled with Fairy type moves’ underwhelming stats, they both struggled against Deoxys-Attack. Mega Altaria can still defeat Deoxys-Attack without weatherboost, though. While Mega Mawile needed Cloudy weather boosting its Fairy Wind/Play Rough.
Mega Slowbro, Mega Glalie, Mega Steelix, Mega Aggron and Mega Abomasnow has defeated Deoxys-Attack in last seconds. However, it doesn’t mean they found this Solo Raid difficult. None of them needs particularly good luck or recursive attempts to win the fight.
It is also noteworthy that this project is not meant to be a speed test, and they are not fighting in a fair condition. Particularly, Primal Kyogre was fighting against Deoxys-Attack under bad data connection, and Mega Tyranitar/Mega Alakazam had fought Deoxys-Attack under the Max Laggy Monday.
One last note, as stated above, only 43 of them has joined the party, and one of them had being left out. It was Mega Medicham. Same as Mega Gallade, Mega Medicham’s both STAB is resisted by Deoxys-Attack. On top of that, it has low attack stats and lack of super-effective (or even strong neutral coverage) against Deoxys-Attack. Even with the optimal moveset, it is still a minute too slow to beat Deoxys-Attack.
I knew deoxys attacks defense was low, but not that low
Phenomenal!! Congratulations! 💪💪
Seriously mind blowing! Couldn't imagine level of patience & persistence to pull this off.
Thank you for all of your amazing posts & dedication to show us what is possible.
Wym rip self boost? Is it removed?
Lowkey, this is an incredible tribute to the self boost and Mega Pokemon as a whole🎉
Great job doing all of these solos 🥳
This is amazing, awesome work! Also self boost now being gone is very sad
self boost removal really sucks, I was so ready to solo dialga but now I need friends/alt acc which I hate setting up.
