“We’ll Be Talkin’ About The Miltank” – Pokémon Crystal [GBC] (Livestream No. 3)

Now it’s time for Reginald Cosmic to play Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal the first real sequel to Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow. This is the first third version of Pokemon released in the West (since Yellow is a weird fourth version based on the anime). It didn’t sell well, and since the devs decided you can’t catch Mareep in this third version, there is considerable contention on whether this third version is actually superior. Pokémon Crystal is also the first Pokémon game with moving sprites and the first Pokémon game where you can play as a girl (yes, really). Gen II did not introduce a new criminal organization; instead, the player is tasked with finishing off the scraps of the now pitiful Team Rocket. It’s interesting but not exciting.

We’re going to finally reach Goldenrod City in this one.
