Kadabra Weighs A Zillion Pounds (Not) #pokemon #pokemonfacts #pokemoncrystal

Kadabra was introduced in generation 1 of Pokemon [Red, Blue, Yellow]. Ordinarily, Kadabra weighs 124 pounds for the purposes of the Pokedex and most game mechanics. But there’s a glitch in Pokemon Crystal that causes the game to think Kadabra is much heavier.

  1. A few quick notes:

    – This glitch would also affect Sunflora, since its Pokedex number is 192. But it can't be found in the wild in Pokemon Crystal.

    – Under normal circumstances, the Heavy Ball applies the maximum catch rate bonus if the Pokemon weighs at least 903 pounds (409.6 kilograms). Kadabra and Tauros weigh 124 and 194 pounds respectively, so they ordinarily fall into a much lower weight class.

  2. Fun fact, of the apricorn balls, only the Friend Ball and Lure Ball worked as intended. Every one of the other 5 is gliched in some way. My favorite is the Love Ball lmao

Also apparently Lure Ball made up for lost time in SV because its purpose of catching waterborne Pokemon didn't work right in every version up to 1.1.0. So of all the apricorn balls, only Friend Ball has worked consistently across the series (for now).

  3. Yeah I found a wild Wiglett with the dex number 960 (divisible by 64) in my pokemon Crystal and the weight ball worked so good it also just captured the entire route I found the Wiglett in

Maybe what hides under the Wiglett truely just weighs multiple tons

  4. So, if I’m not wrong, combuskin, wailmer, Rayquaza, lucario, simisage, Gothitell, virizion, Goomy, Golisopod, Dubwool, glastrier, wiglett, & terapagos would also be affected by this glitch if they existed in these games

  5. I went on Bulbapedia to check, and was very confused because I didn’t realize this was based on National Dex,
I was looking at the regional dexes, lmao.

  6. So if this glitch still happened in and before Gen 9, these pokemon would be affected (ignoring if they can’t be found in the wild):
    Alakazam
    Tauros
    Sunflora
    Combusken
    Wailmer
    Rayquaza
    Lucario
    Simisage
    Gothitelle
    Virizion
    Goomy
    Golisopod
    Dubwool
    Glastrier
    Wiglett
    Terapagos

  7. "Many odd things happen if this Pokémon is close by. For example, it makes clocks run backwards." – Kadabra's Yellow dex entry
"If it uses its abilities, it emits special alpha waves that cause machines to malfunction." – Kadabra's Silver dex entry

It's only natural that it messes with the Heavy Ball's calculations. 😛

  8. The additive bonus of the heavy ball is actually the only way to get really high catch rates on some legendaries. You can get a groudon with a 40% chance if you're level 50 and they were put to sleep and at 1. Everything else is only around 15% at most
