  1. I've been working on a fan rewrite of the Johto anime, and in it I gave Whitney an Aipom, Smeargle, and Miltank. All of them are named after baseball players: Aipom is the Catcher, Smeargle is the Batter, and Miltank is the Pitcher.

  2. For what I understand, Whitney loves normal types that are pink, so since Aipom is purple, it wasn't a candidate for her team at the time. An easy fix in my opinion would be to make her Aipom Shiny as not only is Shiny Aipom pink, but would also be cool to see a Gym Leader use a Shiny like how Winona and Clair used Shinies in the Anime.

  3. My first thought is Goldenrod Gym being retconned as Fairy-type in future appearances, since three of the five species used by its regular Trainers are now at least part Fairy-type, and the other two (Sentret and Meowth) can be rationalised as “cute Pokémon” who know Baby-Doll Eyes, or perhaps a new Fairy-type Meowth variant that’s based on the cat sìth (catlike fairies from Celtic folklore).

Plus, the whole Gym interior is a maze stylised to look like a Clefairy seen from above. If they keep it Normal-type, then… well, Jigglypuff is still a primary Normal-type, so… would anyone actually be okay with such a drastic change from “Clefairy seen from above” to “Jigglypuff seen from a-

    I’m sorry… I couldn’t resist… hahaha! 🤣

  4. fun fact, Whitney’s entire design is based of female baseball player, look at her clothes, that’s a Baseball jersey, henche why she was originally supposed to have Aipom on her team, before the idea getting scrapped and changed to the Whitney we all know today

  5. Yeah, she should have had an Aipom on her team. Being the 3rd gym leader and only having 2 Pokémon seemed a little weird, plus Aipom is a Gen 2 normal type, it makes sense on top of the art work as well. I also think they should have replaced clefairy with a snubbull, and her new team would be snubbull, Aipom, and milktank

  6. I think that is the beta art for Whitney. Aipoms tail looks like a baseball mitt, making this art make sense.

  7. If gen 2 gets another remake Whitney’s clefary should be replaced with an aipom and she should only have two Pokémon milktank is so strong it might as well be two whole Pokémon

  8. Fighting clefairy, getting through miltank, just for her to have an aipom would probably make me rage quit the goldenrod gym

  9. Simple anwser is that not every pokemon someone interacts with is one of theirs. She could have just been playing with an aipom that doesnt mean she has one. Its cool that they did make it cannon tho as of bw2

  10. the idea of whitney playing baseball with an aipom is so adorableee
game freak why did u never do anything with this concepttt :((

  11. I mean… another way to fix this is to give us another set of Johto remakes and overhaul the gym leader teams (they seriously need it)

  12. what more do you want the pokemon art director drew her with it thats the most canon thing you could ever asked for lol

  13. Curse my obsessive-compulsiveness… Here I am annoyed by the outfit differences. In the sprite art, she has a black undershirt beneath that big white one, but in the Sugimori art, she's wearing a sports bra instead. And it's blue. While it doesn't outright clash, it doesn't really go with the rest of the outfit, either.

I may not be into fashion, but I do have an eye for it.

  14. I’m sure he just drew her with another normal type mon just because. Not deep at allllllllllll

  15. Yeah I'm going with she's always had one just never used it, trainers have more then 6 pokemon but can only use 6 at a time. I guess she's never needed to use it

  16. It's maybe her partner pokemon for whenever she just wants to have fun or be casual, "never go outside without a pokemon" so she has one as a pet basically, It's said to be super friendly and playful, I'm sure It'd be a cool mon to play catch with
