When a Pokemon breeds with Ditto the offspring is always the first stage of the parent Pokemon that isn’t Ditto. Except for Manaphy! Not only is Manaphy the only mythical Pokemon that can breed but when Manaphy breeds with Ditto the two produce a completely different Pokemon species… Phione! Why is that? Lets figure out the answer! (Grrr this was supposed to be a Valentines day Special of sorts but Youtube doesn’t like me T_T)

The questions why they even wasted time putting phione into the game.
Here's my theory, since ditto can change into different pokemon and it breeding with manaphy, it creates phione which looks like manaphy but still is like different like copy kinda like ditto. That's my theory but urs also sound super reliable.

I think its something like when you breed a horse (manaphy) with a donkey(ditto) . It would produce a mule(phione) . Something that is niether horse nor donkey. But a breed of its own and not able to breed it's own offspring (phione can't breed) .
And the reason ditto could breed with manaphy is because ditto is a failed clone of a mythical. Hence giving him enough chromosomes to breed with the mythical manaphy.

I always thought its because Phione is a defective Manaphy. Mythical pokemon are not supposed to breed but manaphy did anyway, resulting an imperfect Manaphy

I always figured that Phione is the normal version, and Manaphy is a much more powerful, one-of-a-kind mutant.
I want to know what the process was for making Phione. It seems like it was an alternate design of Manaphy that somehow got programmed into the game. There's clearly some lore or context that we're missing.
You find a manaphy egg but I thought manaphy cannot give birth to other manaphy? What gave birth to that manaphy egg ?
What if it is a phione but due to being born into cold climates it just looks different ?
Hmmm… it'd be cool if we get a polar region someday and are able to go to the sea floor and if you have a Manaphy and ditto egg and it hatches while you're down there, you get to breed a Manaphy for the first time. :O
I like to think that Phione are the royal guards produced via the lifeblood of manaphy they are its precious children and strongest warriors
